[ She came up behind him, taking his arm in both of hers. Private disappointment was something she was familiar with, but at the same time... ]

[he fixed her with a confused stare over his shoulder.] It wasn't?

[ she shakes her head ] Hospital food isn't bad. They want you to get healthy, after all; it's nutritious and filling, even if it isn't my favorite. But an aide brings it to you, and leaves, and comes back to get the tray... [ And it's lonely, it's so lonely, and Grace is busy during the day and rarely visits during dinner, and she has a private room, and more often than not she mixes the stuff around in its foil dishes and barely eats half, there's something crushing about that sort of meal-- she pauses, then says lightly, as if it's nothing much ] It's boring, that's all! Completely boring. It's not what I eat that matters, it's not staring at the television while I do it!

[she was a strong kid, and maybe that's why she felt the need to keep this from him. to show outer weakness was to fail. he could respect her decision. his only hope was that it wouldn't make her feel even more alone. he kissed the top of her head in silent reaffirmation. you are not alone.]

So lighting the oven on fire was just what I needed! [ She danced away, still holding onto his hand with her fingertips, smiling perfectly cheerfully; she knows he understood, and she just hopes he understood why she wouldn't say it. ] No need to look so down about it!

he is getting that grin on. the bad kind of grin where it's like 'oh damn let me get the fire extinguisher'. but there will be no time for that because he takes one huge step and shows her what kind of skill he's got.

[teenage boy, he is, but she likes this. don't lie. he's even being somewhat assertive and backing them up against the cabinets.

[ oh, she won't lie. Whenever they meet up it always seems to go this way eventually; she'd have no time for a relationship that was just about physical things, but because theirs isn't, she enjoys this side of it. She lets him assert his manhood (not literally), leaning back against the counter; at the same time, she makes sure he knows she's letting him, kissing back in a way that's anything but passive ]

[he can't help himself too much on the physical side of things. one, he is totally a teenage boy. two, he's always been more of a physical person when it came to show affection. words were words, cheap and easy to spew; actions were worth more than any of that. he'll have to spit out those words one day, but this is the best he can do for now. and three, well. she was pretty hot.

assertiveness, getting into or not, it's all got to grind to a halt when the doorbell rings signaling pizza times. it takes four high-pitched annoyed rings to break through his haze, and even then he can't remember why anyone would be at the door.] Whassat?

[ she pats him on the shoulder with an "oh, you" sort of face, before disentangling herself and adjusting her shirt, going over to grab her wallet from her purse on the couch and answering the door ]

Ahh, I'm sorry, I was in the middle of a phone call! [ she pays the delivery boy, adding a generous tip, before turning around as the door shuts, pizzas in her arms. She fixes Kamina with a grin that says "Well, I'm perfectly composed, what are you doing looking so flustered?" ]
