[waiting outside of sheryl's hotel in ripped up work pants and a comfy shirt, totally not nervous at all about this. i mean, he was a marian. marian men did not get nervous about ladies. they commandeered.

[ is commandeer another word for "get topped all the time"? if so, you are correct. Anyway, she's wearing the Sheryl Nome version of comfy clothes, which despite being basically yoga pants and a tank top look like they wouldn't look out of place in a fashion spread. She has her hair up, and waves as she exits the front door of the hotel, saying hello to the doorman on her way ]

How's that? 2 PM sharp!

[commandeer is another word for 'please be gentle with me'. he waves back, suppressing any variation of wolf whistling/whistling/making a comment that would get him punched in the face as best he could. how did she manage to look good in everything and be completely distracting as she did so?] Not bad at all. You ready to go?

Well, ya don't! [cheeky grin and grabs her hand] We're worldhopping outta here! [FWOOSH AWAY THEY GO USING WHATEVER CROSS USES TO WORLDHOP BECAUSE HE BORROWED IT WITHOUT PERMISSION!!!1

they arrive on the outskirts of a little clearing with woods on the far right side.]

What did you just-- [ she's about to yell at him to tell her before he does something like that, but she stops short, staring at the scenery ]

Where are we?

It's a place not far from the house, but you said you never been on Earth before so.... [rubs the back of his neck with his free hand. h-herp, did he do good?]

--We are? Really?

[ she jogs a few steps away, then looks over at the woods, shields her eyes and looks up into the sky, spins around for a moment with her arms out ] We're on an actual planet!

[he doesn't follow, just watches and smiles. the smugness would kick in later ('kamina, you are a master of women'), but not now. her reaction alone made up for the teasing he'd get from everybody at home about his doofy smile when he thought about her.] With a real sun and grass and dirt and everything.

[ she whips out her phone and starts taking pictures of everything, wandering closer to the woods as she makes vague delighted noises ] Can we go and explore? Come on, let's go!

[trots at a slow pace along a well-worn path into the woods. this was his secret place when he wanted to escape the madness of the house when he was small so he knows this place like he knew the make, model, year, and distributor of his dream hot rod. pictures are welcomed and encouraged.]

[ She's trotting faster than he is, then stops by a tall tree with low-hanging branches ] Hey, hey! I'm going to climb this, I want to see the view!

[she's practically gone from 18 to 8 in front of his eyes, and it's pretty amazing. kamina's never seen her act this way.] Go on up, I'll be right behind. An' watch out for the fourth branch up, it's been wanting to break for years.

[ she's never climbed a tree before, but she wouldn't be sheryl fucking nome if she let that stop her. she gets a runup and jumps, hooking her arms over the lowest branch and pulling herself up ] You've climbed this before? I'm not surprised!

[he could always give her a boost up...nah. one, she'd insist on doing it herself. two, it was cute seeing her give it the good college try.] I climbed the day before yesterday! It's been here long as I been here.

[ she pulls herself over and clambers to her feet, grabbing the next branch up ] Oh yeah? How many times have you fallen?

Tons. It's how I got the huge scar on my stomach. [vaguely gestures to it before climbing up to join her]

[ Now she's getting the hang of it! She scrambles up to the next branch, but stops there for the moment, leaning against the tree and shading her eyes as she looks out over the view ] How did you ever survive past the age of eight?

Manly pride and determination, that's what! [goes on ahead to the sixth branch and takes a seat against the trunk since it was stronger and larger than the others]

[ She laughs with an "of course", but besides that, she just stares out into the distance, before saying softly ] How do you get used to being able to see this far?

It's almost like you can see the whole world from up here or at least you can forget about it so...you don't.

[ this is a dere moment so she's still not going to look at you mmkay ]

It's your birthday. Don't go thankin' me. [giving her some time to be all dere in relative privacy]
