[RL w/Simon]

[Kamina steps out into the water on one of the far edges of the beach, enjoying the feeling of incoming waves lapping against his legs. The swimming trunks provided by the wherever he was (he notes to himself that he's got to find a better name, and soon) get more and more wet as he goes farther out into the ocean. He likes this place even though he's only been here once. It's open and breezy and free like a good place on the surface should be and it's got all that water. Water as far as the eye can see. Way better than those little puddles underground. He stops once it reaches his waist and stuffs his hands in his pockets. He's going to see his bro for the first time in weeks--a year, really. How did he look now? Was he taller than him?

He removes his hands from the restricted space of his pockets and holds them behind his head. The only way to find out is to see Simon in person.]

[Simon had shown up early. He'd arrived in Lagann, sitting in the same spot he had, over a year ago, sat in with the rest of the Dai-Gurren-dan, out of sight of where they said they'd meet. He didn't know what to think of it. It'd been a year. A year and he was finally seeing him again. The thought... almost scared him. After all this time, all this change.

What if Kamina didn't like who he was becoming? What if he didn't like what he was doing or Kamina City or the Dai-Gurren-dan breaking up, or thought he couldn't do it--

Okay. He was being stupid. He sighed and hopped out of Lagann. There was really only one thing to worry about.

What if he never came?

No use wondering. He shoved his hands in his pockets (he was wearing swim trunks and a tee-shirt-jacket-thing, you know what I'm talking about), and headed to where they promised to meet.]

[Kamina was thinking about seeing how long he could hold his breath underwater when he heard the sounds of footfalls in the sand. He turned, his arms still behind him, and grinned like a fool when Simon's unmistakable goggles on his head and drill around his neck. ...he'd grown. A lot. Simon's body was finally starting to catch up to his manly soul. Kamina had always known that his bro couldn't stay a child, but seeing him small one day and practically grown the next surprised him. Heh. He was getting old.]

Oi! [He waved both arms wildly to get Simon's attention.]

[Simon froze. Lagann wasn't that far away. He could still back out--No, he wasn't gonna think like that. He raised a hand and felt a smile on his face.] H-hey!

[Did his voice crack? No, his voice did not just crack. Totally didn't. What the hell was this shit--It was just Kamina. But Kamina was dead, wasn't he?]

[He returned to shore with as much speed as possible. Couldn't keep his bro waiting, and besides, they were on his time. Kamina wasn't sure what all a Supreme Commander did other than kick ass and take names, but it had to be a lot of work, ruling the world.]

You gotta do better. Ya can't be as slow as Yoko. [His grin was easy. His spirit was not. What did he do now? Did Simon even still think of him as an older brother he needed? He wanted? How the hell did you figure out people's feelings without being a sap about it? ]

[Simon shoved his hands back in his pockets, as he stood there, awkwardly. After staring a few moments, his eyes dropped. They were heading to Kamina's feet, but stopped about halfway there--the scar. His eyes glazed for a moment, remembering back then...--

--No, Simon. Pay attention. Pick up your head--there you go. He met Kamina's eyes, again.]

I-It's been a long time, Aniki.

[Never thought he'd say that.]

Yeah. [Very carefully, as if to test the waters, he extended his arm and placed his hand on Simon's head, ruffling his hair gently.] You got bigger.

H-hey! [He sounded like he was upset, but he was smiling. There wasn't much that had changed about his smile. Maybe it was a little more confident, but it was just as real as it'd been back when it was just the Gurren-dan, and all they had beyond themselves was Gurren Lagann.] You couldn't expect me to stay short forever! I'm almost as tall as you, now.

Don't forget 'll still kick yer ass no matter how tall ya get. [Kamina ruffled Simon's hair a little harder while the grin on his face grew wider. Yep, this was still his bro. It put his fears to rest. No matter how old he got or what he decided to do, they were family. That would never change. He put his hand back in his pocket, feeling a lot better than before.] You got a ways ta go 'fore you get as big as me. You'll get there though.

[Simon ducked his head a little under the pressure of Kamina's hand, laughing... but after a moment, even after Kamina'd let go, he didn't straighten. He was shaking, and, though he was still laughing, he had to wipe his eyes.] I-I never thought I'd see you again, Aniki.

[it took a few moments for kamina to register that simon was crying, and then he just smiled.] Oi, oi, no cryin'. A man don't hafta cry when somethin' good happens. Knock it off. [a playful punch to the arm. anything to make him grin again.]

Y-yeah, sorry. [He wiped his eyes again and straightened.] W-we've only got so long, right? I shouldn't waste it on being an idiot. [But goddamn, I missed you and you're here and you can hit me and everything and...]

Don't gotta say sorry neither. [another punch] C'mon, show me how good you got since I left.

[He blinks.] W-what? [Simon is of the lost variety. His head's still spinning from Kamina being there.]

[a punch goes right by his head] PUT YOUR DUKES! SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT! LET'S SEE THAT BURNIN' SPIRIT OF YOURS! [hops back, swaying and making sounds like a kung fu master. he's watched too many movies.]

B-but--Aniki! [Yes, your little bro is whining, Kamina. Yes you may punch him.]

[and verily, he was punched in the face]

[And he falls over into the sand, rubbing his face.] W-what was that for?!

You didn't block! C'mon, prove I picked the leader of the Dai-Gurren Dan right! [more crazy jumping]

[... He grins after a second, teasing.] I'm not gonna fight you, I already know I'd win!

[wait. was simon just being happy? and confident? oh-ho! he doesn't stop moving and his grin is wider than ever.] Oh, yeah? Then back up those big words o' yours! Or are ya too chicken?

[A lot has changed since you died, Aniki. He laughs.] I'll save you the humiliation of losing to your little bro.

[he's a little put out (awwwwwwww fighting is fun!), but he's glad to see him like this. almost just like he remembers except more sure of himself. it's a change that kamina likes. he stops bobbing and weaving and instead, offers a hand so that simon can get up.] Yeah, right, ya just don't wanna 'cause you know 'm still better.

[He takes the hand and stands, smacking the sand off his shorts.

... And then shoves Kamina like the little failure he is.]

[as;ldkjfa;lefj falling falling faaaaaaaaaalllllliiiiiinggggg

he hits the sand with a thump. whoa. a sneak attack. and instead of being angry, he starts laughing like he hasn't in a while, still spread-eagled in the dirt.]

[Simon grins widely. He's happy to see Kamina laughing, and sits down next to him.]
